Elderly victim and children injured in crash
An 81-year-old man suffered serious injuries this afternoon in a traffic collision in the west valley, reported the Las Vegas Sun.
The accident happened at about 2:14 p.m. in the area of Charleston Boulevard and Sky Vista Drive, near State Route 159. (map)
Based on a preliminary investigation, a 2004 Toyota Tundra was exiting a private driveway on the north side of Charleston as a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban was traveling westbound on Charleston, west of Sky Vista. The Chevy slammed into left front side of the Toyota, causing major damage to both vehicles.
Stanley Betts, the 81-year-old driver of the Toyota, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries. Five occupants of the Chevy, including two children, sustained unspecified injuries. All injured parties were taken to University Medical Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
